Duolingo Usability
Duolingo is a language learning application that is available for both IOS and Android systems. It offers fun and engaging language learning courses such as Spanish, French, German, Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Irish, Danish, etc. Its high accessibility, usability, and many language options attract many foreign language learners. The application offers basic courses for the beginner users who are new to the target language, and for learners who have some knowledge of the target language. The non-beginner language learners take a placement test before they can begin a course. Duolingo also offers progressive lessons with vocabularies and translation practices with pictures.
The test on the usability of Duolingo was conducted and reported by Sahar Alyahya, Imelda Bangun, Amal Barzanji, Anna Lara, Basma Moreb, collaboratively. To gather the data of the usability of Duolingo, each member of this group interviewed two participants, with a total of ten participants. The group utilized varied materials during the interviews such as, the usability testing simulation script, seven tasks, the end-of-session questionnaire, and the satisfaction survey to better ensure the quality of this report.
